Interview with Author Christina Kilmister

What inspired you to write a book?
As a fashion designer with my own brand, I have always felt a drive and purpose to make women feel beautiful inside and out. The launching of my brand quickly became an unfolding and life changing journey for me. From my experiences grew a huge desire to share it with the world. I have always loved writing so it seemed like the next right step, to not only tell it, but for it to also be a way of helping and guiding women through my passion for fashion.
What is your book about?
Simply put, it is about following your heart, igniting your passion to do what you truly love in life, to never give up or settle. I walked away from a secure corporate career to do exactly that, and build my brand from the ground up. Through the highs and lows I jumped head first into the fashion industry. In the book I also follow five women, all very different, as they share their own personal, confronting stories. Learn how to dress, love their body shape and most important themselves.
It is full of insider tips, secrets and backstage antics.
What is the key message you want your readers to take from your book?
I would say, to back yourself, don’t let anybody stop you from chasing your dreams and doing what you want, no matter what it is. To be inspired about you, your life. That you truly can feel fabulous in your own skin, when you discover how to dress and style for your own bodyshape. Because when you feel awesome, you are awesome.
Who would most benefit from reading your book?
The sisterhood, women from all walks of life, shapes and sizes. Who balance a busy lifestyle, and don’t have the time or know how to dress and style their body shape in an easy way, so they can look and feel amazing. Women who would love to be doing what rocks their boat everyday, their passion. Whether they are a daughter, wife, partner, sister, grandmother, mother. Whoever they are, wherever they are at, and whatever they are doing. I wrote this for them.
Why do you think your book has been accepted so well?
From the moment I made the decision to write a book, I made the call that I would be myself. Transparent, real, and wear my heart on my sleeve. Wanting whoever was turning the pages to feel as if I was right there with them, while sharing my personal story. Most of all, I wanted the reader to be able to relate. To feel that yes, they could do it too.
The feedback I have had to date has been exactly that, they laughed, cried, cringed and felt the “heart” inside the book. They said it inspired, empowered and resonated with them. They had easily applied what they had learnt about dressing their body shape, and were already feeling great.
I couldn’t have wanted anything more. I am very grateful for the success so far, and think maybe those things had something to do with people loving my book.
